The Savvy Sexy label Zimmermann-

The famous sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmerman opened their first Gold Coast boutique recently at Circle on Cavill in the heart of Surfers Paradise. and i had a chat with them about their respective and joint careers.

QUESTION: Where did it all begin - the interest and the involvement?

NICKY: I was a student at design college aged 22 and together Simone and I started Zimmermen in 1991.

QUESTION: Sisters in business, who does what ? and what is the secret to the success of your label?

NICKY:I do the designing and Simone is the adminstrator. We are like a blend - we share ideas even when i am designing.

QUESTION: What would be the most notable moment in your careers?

First thing- was the BEST experience - Fashion Week 1996 when we received a solid order from Harvey Nicholls in London - YES we were achieveing . This was the turning point - we now knew the possibilities,

QUESTION: Where do the influences and the inspirations come from each season?

NICKY:Colour mainly - its about new optimusum - no "same again " for us - we have new inspirations,

QUESTION::: Who is tour customer?

As we grow bigger 16 to 20s and 25 to 35 up to sixty . Yes our own mother wears Zimmerman- Its about an attitude - an attitude to life, not about age.

QUESTION: Looking towards next season. What can we expect from Zimmerman??

NICKY:Black, Grey and some colours . Some fun prints, lots of textures and new shapes We are really pushing the boundaries with new shapes, and construction.

QUESTION: Will there be a dress?

NICKY:Yes always a dress. There is a new strong silhouette achieved with smarter technology . and with the expert team we have there is a new level of personality.

QUESTION: How important are accessories to your looks?

NICKY:Not too much but of course the SHOE is so so important.with maybe just a single cuff or bracelt. and then a bag.
QUESTION: Your favourite travel destinations in the world?

BALI- its so beautiful

NICKY:GREECE, with my husband.

QUESTION: What would be your number one travel tip:

My cashmere Pashmina to wrap up in - i never travel without it.

NICKY:my travel bag with skin care goodies in it. Looking after my skin when i travel.
